Yesterday, we noticed that the official PS5 websites for Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines have removed the “Holiday 2020” text. It seemingly implies that the console won’t be released in Southeast Asia in time for the 12 or 19 November 2020 release dates.
However, worry not, gamers.
PlayStation Asia have reassured us that the PS5 will be officially available in those aforementioned Southeast Asian countries and that they are currently preparing for launch as we speak.
In a statement to MP1ST, Sony said:
“We can confirm that the PS5 will also become available in MY/TH/ID/PH/VN and that we are currently in the process of preparation towards the launch.
SIES will make an announcement on MY/TH/PH/ID/VN release dates and pricing when we are ready.
Please keep a lookout for our local announcements on PS5 release in respective countries.”
However, Sony has yet to confirm if the PS5 will launch on 12 or 19 November 2020 in Southeast Asia, though at least now we know that it’s officially coming. At the very least, Singapore has their pre-order page & local prices all set up.
The only remaining questions are when the Southeast Asian release date for the PS5 will be and when the pre-orders for the PS5 will open in Southeast Asia.
Hopefully, the answer to those questions are soon. Thankfully, we can rest assured that the PS5 is launching in Southeast Asia, latest by 19th November. So stay tuned on Kakuchopurei for all the latest news. In the meantime, check out all our PS5-related news and coverage here.
