Why Kazuma Kiryu Is Not In Any Fighting Games

Fans have been clamouring for Yakuza franchise protagonist Kazuma Kiryu to appear or guest star as a playable character in a fighting game (especially Bandai Namco’s Tekken) for a while now.

In an interview with Red Bull France, when asked about why Kazuma Kiryu hasn’t been featured in any fighting game, Yakuza franchise creator Toshihiro Nagoshi:

“We get a lot of requests for that.

Of course, there are exceptions, but fighting games usually have female characters, and I personally don’t really want to see Kiryu hit women.”

You read that right. The reason why Kazuma Kiryu has yet to appear in any fighting game is because his creator doesn’t want to see him hitting women. Make of that what you will, Yakuza fans.

Yakuza Like a Dragon will launch for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on 10 November 2020 and 2 March 2021 for the PS5.
