Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin Sales Top 500,000 Worldwide

The devs from Edelweiss & publisher Marvelous are doing a bang-up job with their 2D platformer-slash-farming-simulation fantasy title Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin.

The PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch title has garnered a total worldwide sales figure of 500,000 units, both digital and physical. The fact that it cracked the top 10 on Steam this November proves that people do love a little ingenuity in their platformers, as long as it features a cute-as-a-button protagonist playing a goddess. The fact that you can learn a lot about rice and how the process goes is also a bonus.

We played a few hours of Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, and so far we love the whole rice-growing and harvesting bits. The 2D platforming and action could use a little more tweaks in the controls, but generally, it’s meant to be experienced at a relaxing pace. Stay tuned to our site for a full review of the title.
