[Rumour] Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Studio To Work On Diablo II Remake

Big news from the Activision block: the bigwig publisher has fully absorbed developer Vicarious Visions, renowned for 2020’s pretty rad Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. The dev team will be working on and supporting future projects for Activision and Blizzard, one of them being the much-anticipated Diablo II remake.

According to Bloomberg, Vicarious Visions has been helping out Blizzard’s Team 3 with the Diablo II remake for several months; the latter is known for working on the upcoming action RPG Diablo IV. Previously the remake was the responsibility of Team 1, but that team did Warcraft III: Reforged. Based on how that panned out early 2020, it’s no surprise that the project was handed over to Team 3. Also, Team 1 was dissolved with the people in that team either transferred to new jobs at Blizzard or let go.

With Vicarious Visions’ stellar track record with the Crash Bandicoot and Tony Hawk remake, I think this is a pretty great move. The remake may be in great hands yet, though we can only fully judge after seeing some first impressions and get some hands-on time.
