The Medium Reveals Spooky First 18 Minutes Of Gameplay

Developer Bloober Team has released the first 18 minutes of their horror title The Medium. Exclusively revealed by IGN, the opening 18 minutes of the game reveal more about Marianne, her backstory, and the gameplay in general.

The Medium‘s third-person perspective seems reminiscent to that of older Resident Evil titles, with a fixed camera angle. We also get a sneak peek at the game’s unique dual-world mechanic, as we get to see how Marianne responds to what happens in the spirit world that simultaneously affects her in real life.

The main premise of The Medium is the ability to travel between worlds. Players will be able to explore the real world, and the spirit world at the same time. Players will move in both worlds at the same time, exploring the differences between them, and interacting with different objects to solve puzzles. Things that they do in the real world will affect the spirit world and vice versa.

Bloober Team is best known for horror games like The Blair Witch, and both Layers Of Fear and Layers Of Fear 2. This game also features a dual soundtrack, composed by Arkadiusz Reikowski and Akira Yamaoka, who has previously worked on the Silent Hill franchise.

The Medium is slated to launch exclusively for PC and Xbox Series X/S on 28 January 2021.
