Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Housemarque have delayed third-person roguelike shooter Returnal from its previously planned release date of 19 March 2021.
Returnal is now slated to exclusively launch for the PS5 on 30 April 2021.
According to PlayStation (via Twitter), the reason for the delay was to polish the game further:
“Sony Interactive Entertainment and Housemarque have made the decision to move the release date in order to give the team extra time to continue to polish the game to the level of quality players expect from Housemarque.”

Returnal combines action with roguelike gameplay into a third-person shooter where players fight to survive a hostile planet that changes with every death. Players can switch instinctively between firing modes by using a single adaptive trigger and can get right back into the action after dying. Players assume the role of Astra space scout Selene as she is stuck in a constant loop of resurrection.
