Rockstar Leeds Founder Is Dead
Gordon Hall, the founder of Rockstar Leeds, has died. He was 51.
The news came up from various folks in the Yorkshire development scene (via Gamesindustry.biz). The cause of his death is not known at this point in time. He is survived by his son James.
Rockstar Leeds is renowned for developing Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. Previously, the studio was called Mobius Entertainment back in 1997 where it developed a number of Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles. The company was then bought by Rockstar Games and rebranded as Rockstar Leeds.
Apart from Chinatown Wars, Gordon Hall and his team worked on Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. At one point in 2009, he contributed to the development of Red Dead Redemption. After that, he took a sabbatical between 2011 and 2013 to research player psychology and microtransactions strategy. He then became chief creative officer for Activision Blizzard Mobile.
Kakuchopurei would like to extend its condolences to Hall and his family.
