Square Enix just announced a ton of games in its portfolio for 2021 and beyond. Let’s take a look at what they’ve announced, shall we?
We get some new Outriders tidbits, like new locations and maps such as a giant forest with monsters and an ice area with loads of monsters. How will you travel to these places? You use a convoy, a giant vehicle you can customize. The showcase also talks about the game’s loot, shooting, and classes.
Just a reminder that the game is coming out 1st April and is free via Xbox Game Pass for Xbox users.
Tomb Raider 25th Anniversary / Tomb Raider Definitive Survivor Trilogy
We knew about this collection a week or so ago, but it’s nice to know that it’s made official now.
Just Cause Mobile
Scorpio’s gone portable! The Just Cause series is now going mobile for iOS and Android. Not much is known except you team up with pals to take down corporations in jungles and open-air spaces.
The assassination game is going portable. Hitman Sniper is the iOS/Android version of the Hitman Sniper challenge DLC games you’ve seen on PS4 and other consoles.
Space Invaders AR Game
It’s Space Invaders, but using AR tech to have the action go on live backgrounds.
Touhou Spell Bubble
Puzzle Bobble/Bust A Move, but with shrine maidens and waifus.
Darius Cozmic Revelation
The famous Taito fish-based 2D shmup is now in a neat collection.
Bubble Bobble 4 Friends
Yeah, this still exists. 3D graphics Bubble Bobble but with the same 2D gameplay.
So what new things can help justify the added grind to this middling action RPG title that’s clearly apeing Bungie’s Destiny? How about a new mission involving evil Hulk/Maestro and two new Hawkeyes, as well as the same villains and mobs from the base game? No? Ah well.
There’s a shred of hope: developer Crystal Dynamics tease Black Panther, the next new character and Klaw, the next new villain. And also Wakanda in a new War for Wakanda DLC.
Square Enix showed off some new gameplay from the upcoming whimsical platformer. Out 26th March for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
Life Is Strange: True Colors
The big one that was teased a week or so ago. The next sequel in the esoteric adventure game features a bisexual Asian woman named Alex Chen who can read and control emotions. She comes back to her hometown to visit her brother Gabe, who is murdered for unknown reasons.
The whole game is about finding out who murdered Gabe and why, and you’ll use your powers to do just that. The game will have callbacks to past Life is Strange prequels, and will provide you with two romance options. Based on the trailer so far, it’s looking very animation-savvy and pretty.
The full game will be out in September 2021.
Bonus: Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before The Storm will be re-released as a remaster this Fall 2021. It’ll be called Life is Strange: Remastered Collection.
Forspoken (a.k.a. Project Athia)
Made by Luminous Productions in Square Enix, this open-world action RPG stars a woman named Frey Holland. It’s set in a ravaged contemporary world where fantasy monsters are roaming in it, terrorizing people and stuff.
Thanks to what I presume is plot magic stuff, Frey can use elemental & nature powers, and can jump around & run like a superhuman. Looks pretty fun! This RPG will be out in 2022 for PC and PS5.
