After traversing in modern warfare and Vietnam War territory, Activision’s Call of Duty franchise will be heading back to World War 2 well this year.
According to a number of leaks from Call of Duty fansite Modern Warzone, the 2021 CoD game will be developed by Sledgehammer Games. Coincidentally, that team worked on Call of Duty WW2. The upcoming shooter will be following a more traditional WW2 setting instead of an alternate 1945 timeline as suggested in earlier leaks.
What does this mean for the F2P battle royale game Call of Duty Warzone? Well, it’s still continuing, though Activision has yet to clarify whether WW2 firearms and weaponry will be included in the battle royale should the time come. They already added in Black Ops: Cold War stuff, so it’ll be interesting to see how they’ll approach this integration if the rumours are true.
