New Star Wars The Bad Batch Trailer Features Several Familiar Faces

Disney Plus has released a new full-length trailer for the upcoming Star Wars The Bad Batch. The new animated series is slated to premiere with a special 70-minute-long debut episode exclusively on Disney Plus on 4 May 2021, also known as the annual Star Wars Day for fans of the franchise.

Subsequent episodes will premiere every Friday starting from 7 May 2021.

Star Wars The Bad Batch follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in “The Clone Wars”) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch; a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army; each possess a singular exceptional skill that makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew.

The newly-released trailer features several familiar and returning faces, including Admiral Tarkin (presumably before he became Grand Moff) and extremist rebel leader Saw Gerrera (who sadly sounds like he’s no longer voiced by Forest Whitaker).

The Bad Batch was originally introduced in the final season of Star Wars The Clone Wars, and they were the focus of the first major story arc in the aforementioned season. The Bad Batch is an elite clone commando squad consisting of four clone troopers designed with genetic mutations. These include:

  • “Tech,” a clone with heightened mental capacity and intelligence.
  • Clone Sergeant “Hunter,” a clone with improved sensory abilities.
  • “Wrecker,” a clone with enhanced strength.
  • “Crosshair,” a clone with sharpshooter abilities.

Each member of the Bad Batch could be identified by a skull icon on their clone trooper armour. Following the Battle of Anaxes (which happened in the first four episodes of Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 7), fan-favourite Clone Corporal “Echo” also officially joined the squad.

Star Wars The Clone Wars creator and The Mandalorian executive producer Dave Filoni will return for Star Wars The Bad Batch as executive producer alongside Athena Portillo (Star Wars The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels), Brad Rau (Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars Resistance) and Jennifer Corbett (Star Wars Resistance, NCIS).

Meanwhile, Carrie Beck (The Mandalorian, Star Wars Rebels) will act as head writer and co-executive producer, while Josh Rimes will be the producer (Star Wars Resistance).

In the meantime, check out the new trailer and poster below:
