Outriders Will Brand Cheaters With On-Screen Watermarks
By Jonathan ToyadVerified|March 26, 2021|0 Comment
If you’re planning on using aimbots & trainers in the upcoming loot-and-shoot game Outriders, you may want to think twice.
In a recent dev update from developer People Can Fly, the studio revealed that it will be stiffing cheating Outriders players with matchmaking penalties and a “discreet but visible” watermark that will never go away. Basically, it’s a brand to shame cheaters forever just to separate YouTubers and Reddit posters who worked hard to get their loot from the ones who don’t.
“Since the demo launch, this has been a hotly debated topic, so we wanted to provide some perspective on it as well as outline our policy regarding cheating and hacking going forward,” the post reads. During the demo, People Can Fly identified around 200 cheaters out of 2 million total players. That’s a measly 0.01 percent of the total player base, a percentage that the dev is confident “won’t grow by much.”
So what counts as cheating in Outriders? People Can Fly has a helpful list of definitions and examples:
If you happen to have cheated during the demo and wish to get back on People Can Fly’s good side before the game launches, the devs said that these folks need to delete all their characters and items on their entire account in order to wipe the slate clean.
Outriders will be out on 1st April for PC, Xbox Series, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4. The game will be free on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
