Janina Gavankar of The Way Back and The Morning Show fame has joined Eli Roth’s feature Borderlands film at Lionsgate, Deadline reports.
The actress, known for her major video game role in Star Wars Battlefront 2 in the game’s single-player campaign will play the role of Commander Knoxx who is a “new, key character being introduced to the Borderlands family” and is not related to General Alphonso Knoxx. I think. So to recap, she will be joining the following stars:
- Cate Blanchett (Lilith the Siren)
- Kevin Hart (Roland the Soldier)
- Jamie Lee Curtis (Patricia Tannis)
- Ariana Greenblatt (Tiny Tina)
- Florian Munteanu (Krieg)
- Edgar Ramirez (Atlas)
- Haley Bennett
- Olivier Richters (Krom)
- Jack Black (Claptrap)
Money casting, that. The movie’s plot focuses on Lilith going back to Pandora to find the missing daughter of the universe’s most powerful S.O.B., Atlas. She forms a team consisting of Roland, Tiny Tina, Krieg, and Claptrap(?) to find the girl while battling aliens, monsters, psychopaths, and more residing in lovely Pandora. The show’s script will be by Emmy-winning screenwriter Craig Mazin, with Eli Roth in the director’s chair.
