Apex Legends Gets New 3v3 Arenas Mode, Which Is Basically Respawn’s Version Of CS:GO

Respawn may be taking a step out of the battle royale shooter genre with its latest major Season 9 update to Apex Legends.

And they did, with its new 3v3 Arenas mode. Arenas is a new permanent mode where players fight each other in 3v3 matches where they carefully spend crafting materials on weapons and ability charges before each round. It’s essentially Respawn pulling off a Counter-Strike: GO and Valorant, but with the Apex Legends/Titanfall touch. Looks fun!

Apex Legends is also getting its new Legend called Valkyrie. Her real name is Kairi Imahara, and her dad happens to be Viper, the Apex Predator who was killed by Titanfall 2’s main character Jack Cooper.

Her abilities are as follows:

  • Passive: VTOL Jets – Press Jump while in the air to engage jetpack. You can switch between hold and toggle in the options menu.
  • Tactical: Missile Swarm – Fire a swarm of mini-rockets which damage and disorient the enemy.
  • Ultimate: Skyward Dive – Press once to prepare for launch. Teammates can interact with Valkyrie to join the launch. Press again to launch into the air and skydive.
  • Legendary skins: Aerial Support, Choke Uplift, Valhalla Descent, Warrior’s Justice

These major updates will be out on 4th May. We’ll say this: it’s only a matter of time until Apex Legends gets its Titans mode.

Update: Apparently we will not be getting Titanfall Titans in Apex Legends (thanks Sirus Gaming!). According to game director Chad Grenier, he clarifies that they will not be in Apex Legends since having them on board will change the gameplay mechanics and cause chaos. The only two Titanfall-related characters will be Valkyrie and Ash.
