Street Fighter’s Yoshinori Ono Joins Delightworks

Yoshinori Ono has been appointed as the new president and chief operating officer (COO) at Japanese developer Delightworks as of 1 May 2021.

Ono is a legend in the fighting game community, having been a producer on Capcom’s Street Fighter franchise since 1998. He was even instrumental in the development of Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter V, effectively reviving the series for a modern generation.

He previously shocked the games industry by announcing that he would leave Capcom after three decades back in August 2020. After several months, we now know where Ono has gone. According to the Delightworks press release, Delightworks founder and former president Akihito Shouji stepped down and has assumed the role of chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) after Ono’s appointment.

Delightworks is best known for developing the popular mobile game Fate/Grand Order (also known simply as F/GO) and an upcoming game Melty Blood: Type Lumina for the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

Ono himself also tweeted about his new job and position at Delightworks earlier today.

He said:

On May 1, I will be appointed President and Representative Director of Delightworks Co., Ltd.

It will be a challenge to a new position and a new field.

We look forward to working with you in the future.

I would like to thank all the people who have taken care of me in the past and the game community I have been involved in in the future.
