We still don’t know when GTA VI will ever arrive, but at least now we know the release date for the next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of GTA V. The next-gen version of GTA V was originally announced back in June 2020 during the PS5 Digital Showcase live stream.
According to Rockstar Games, GTA V is coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on 11 November 2021, as well as a standalone edition of GTA Online. In addition, PlayStation users can expect a special bonus. The developer is also teasing a GTA III anniversary event for the game’s 20th birthday.
GTA Online will be free on PS5 for its first three months, which ends in February 2022. Currently, PlayStation Plus users on PS4 have already been claiming GTA$1,000,000 every month, which will continue until the PS5 version launches.
The next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of GTA V and GTA Online will boast “new features and more”. However, the developer has yet to detail what those improvements are. Speaking to GameSpot, Rockstar said:
“The new generation versions of GTAV will feature a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the latest hardware, making the game more beautiful and more responsive than ever.”

You know what’s crazy… this GTA game first came out on PS3 and Xbox 360, went through an entire new generation of consoles, and is now seeing its third generation of consoles nearly 8 years later. What other game in history has spanned and reminded relevant that long?
