Top Street Fighter World Warrior Tested Positive For COVID-19 [Update]

Update (22 May, 9:53am): Daigo is now released from the hospital following this. He’s doing fine right now thanks to the nurses and doctors who took care of the World Warrior.

Original story (8 May, 2021)

Daigo Umehara, a renowned Street Fighter player and esports competitor known for being one of the very few apex predators in the business, has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a public statement on his Twitter account, he experienced fatigue and high fever on the 5th of May. Like any responsible human being in a worldwide pandemic, he went to the doctor to get tested. He was declared COVID-19 positive on 6th May.

He will be self-quarantining himself and will be resting at home while awaiting word from respective health officials on what to do next. He also apologizes for causing concern to his colleagues and supporters.

Because of his status at being the best and also being humble in imparting his World Warrior knowledge to people, he has been receiving online “get well soon” messages and replies from the fighting game community.

Kakuchopurei wishes a speedy recovery for the World Warrior.
