Valve Is Making Its Own Portable Gaming PC To Rival The Nintendo Switch
Valve’s Steam PC boxes and custom PCs aren’t exactly new things, but what about portable versions of it? That’s the current buzz on the PC rumour mill; Steam is going to sell a portable gaming PC to rival the Nintendo Switch.
Billed the Valve SteamPal (probably a placeholder name), the system will be larger than the Nintendo Switch and run on Linux. According to Ars Technica, the Nintendo Switch-inspired portable PC will be on sale by the end of 2021.
The SteamPal will be an all-in-one Linux-based PC that comes with a touch screen and gamepad controls, as well as being its own standalone gaming device. The machine will use either an Intel or AMD chipset. Also, you can connect the SteamPal to other monitors via a USB Type-C connection. The console also supports controller bindings, has a quick access menu, and also features system settings, wifi, and Bluetooth.
Hopefully, this new SteamPal venture will be more successful than the Steam Machines, Steam Link, and the Steam Controller combined. Valve does not have a good track record with hardware as of yet.
