Halo Infinite Will Not Feature Loot Boxes, Battle Passes Are Permanent & Purely Cosmetic

During the Xbox Bethesda E3 2021 presentation yesterday, 343 Industries confirmed that Halo Infinite multiplayer will be free-to-play. Today, in a new live stream on the game’s multiplayer mode, the developer further revealed that despite being free-to-play, there will be no loot boxes, which means that there won’t be any random drops for loot and items.

Instead, Halo Infinite multiplayer will feature a Battle Pass system/battle passes. What’s unique is that these battle passes will last forever and will never expire. They will remain available to pick up across seasons. Players can acquire new loot and cosmetics via the battle pass and special in-game events.

In addition, all unlocks and progression will also carry over between PC and Xbox consoles; made possible via cross-play and cross-progression. Besides that, 343 Industries also revealed that players will now be able to personalise their loadout with a custom AI and that Xbox Insiders will be eligible for special beta sessions ahead of the game’s release.

Halo Infinite is slated to launch for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC sometime in holiday 2021. In the meantime, check out the multiplayer overview trailer below:
