Just like moms in video games, dads in video games are pretty important. In fact, dad-and-offspring is a sub-genre of sorts that is all the rage these past few years if games like God of War, Dishonored, and The Witcher 3 are of any indication.

We’ll start with the obvious one: Kratos. He’s done a lot of bloody violent stuff back then when he was a Greek God, but he turn into a father that Atreus needs through the course of the journey. One of last year’s Games of the Year is about a son named Zagreus trying to escape the Underworld to see his mom. His major obstacle is his dad Hades who eventually warms up to him, so it’s rather fitting that the two can bond over Underworld fishing.
