Get Your Twin-Stick Shooter Arcade Jollies With Curved Space

Need to sate your shmup jollies in a new indie twin-stick shooter title? You might want to give Curved Space a shot.

Made by Maximum Games, Curved Space is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC right now. The Nintendo Switch version will be out on 13 July. What sets this game apart from other indie shmup titles? Well, this one:

  • Puts your spaceship on curved landscape, so all your bullets and shots hug the terrain while the horizon plane drops sharply out of sight.
  • Features lots of space spiders that you not only need to kill, but also tether to rods using a special lash for certain energy-lashing objectives.
  • Gives you lots of nice weapons, like a shotgun firing module, a sniper rifle, rocket launchers, and a melee-based hack-and-slash weapon called the Weed Wacker.
  • Offers plenty of gameplay features like dodging, going into Overdrive mode for powerful firing, and an Endless mode in case you finished the obligatory Campaign mode within one sitting.

We tried the game out, and it’s pretty fun if you’re into twin-stick shooters. However, the minimized field of view at default settings can give you a headache fast; we suggest you play this with full FOV on 60fps.
