Forza Horizon 5’s Vroom Vroom Sounds Will Be Ray Traced

Forza Horizon 5 for Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC will have ray traced audio and much more improved engine sounds according to its developer Playground Games.

We already know that the game’s new locale and gameplay will be expanded upon, but I didn’t think that the game’s sounds and car audio will be given this much special care. Forza Horizon 5 will be getting 320 new car recordings in addition to what was already recorded in the last game. The audio will be ray traced, run at 90fps, and will be played in real-time if you make a change or apply an upgrade to your engine.

What does it mean by ray traced audio? It means vehicle sounds will dynamically change based on the surrounding environment thanks to “thousands of little audio files” to react precisely to how the player is driving. And it’s all happening at 90fps. Let this video from Playground Games demonstrate:

What’s that distant sound I hear? Probably all the car nuts worldwide busting a nut in their pants hearing how godlike the car sounds and engines are this time around. It’s good that Playground Games are acknowledging the feedback regarding Forza Horizon 4’s “piss poor engine sounds” and are doing something with it in part 5. It’s coming out this 9th November.
