The Possibility Of A Final Fantasy X-3 Is Not Zero, But…

Fans of Final Fantasy X and its girl-power sequel might be hoping for a follow-up to the story of Tidus and Yuna. And Square Enix might deliver that.

I said “might” because according to character designer Tetsuya Nomura, event director Motomu Toriyama, and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima in a long interview with Famitsu, the JRPG-making company may want to revisit the Final Fantasy X universe one day. But it has to focus on current Final Fantasy projects first.

“Nojima has more or less written an outline of what a Final Fantasy X-3 would look like if it existed. [The audio drama] Final Fantasy X: Will and [novel sequel] Final Fantasy X-2.5 were written based on this. It’s dormant now, but the concept itself exists.

The possibility isn’t zero. But I can’t talk about it until we finish production on Final Fantasy VII Remake first.”

You heard it here, folks. Until Square Enix wraps up Final Fantasy VII Remake, all of its sequels, we won’t be seeing any development or word on a Final Fantasy X sequel anytime soon.
