Bethesda Has A Message For PlayStation Fans Who Are Left Out

Xbox owns Bethesda, which means that future marquee titles like The Elder Scrolls and Starfield will most likely be exclusive titles on Xbox consoles. PlayStation fans who are used to playing Bethesda games on their consoles are obviously miffed at being left out.

What does Bethesda have to say to PlayStation fans and loyalists, apart from having titles like Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo being PlayStation console exclusives? Well, not much, according to Bethesda’s senior vice president of global marketing & communications Pete Hines:

“I have no idea how to state this in a way when … I don’t know. I don’t know the answer. It doesn’t exist. It’s not like I know it and I just don’t want to tell you. I don’t know.”

However, Hines did add that Bethesda fans on PlayStation consoles will not be shut out entirely from playing future titles from the studio.

“There are Xbox brands that exist on other platforms, first and foremost. I think that’s important to note. Minecraft didn’t just stop existing on anything once Mojang got bought by Xbox.

It’s a massively played game on all of these other platforms. It’s not a, ‘Sorry, you’re never going to get to play anything by Bethesda again.’ Certainly, there are going to be things that you’re not going to be able to play [on PlayStation].

Starfield, it was announced as a thing that’s an Xbox exclusive. I don’t know if I would go so far as to say you’re done ever playing stuff on PlayStation. But again, I don’t know the answer to that right now.”

You can hear more about Bethesda’s current plans on the recent Gamescom archived livestream.
