Genshin Impact Version 2.1 Update Made US$151 Million For Mihoyo

It’s no surprise that new & hot Inazuma characters and fresh content mean more people playing & gachaing in Genshin Impact.

In about a week, Genshin Impact version 2.1 made creator Mihoyo over US$151 million. This is all thanks to the aforementioned new characters and new continent, not to mention new storyline quests and new minigames like fishing.

The Sensor Tower chart compares the revenue for the game between the week of August 25th to 31st this year and the week of September 1st to 7th this year. The former week generated US$31 million while the latter generated US$151 million. Basically, everyone’s saving up for Raiden Shogun.

Could it also mean that due to past leaks regarding the character, people are willing to spend more money on the game but on a particular week when a favoured character’s banner is coming out and will last for a month or so? Perhaps, but many players are also taking advantage of the Version 2.1 update gacha reset bonus, meaning they’re most likely able to get their first copy of Raiden Shogun after the first few rolls.
