HBO Max Trailer Unveils New Peacemaker Footage

In an official sizzle reel that aired during today’s broadcast of the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards, HBO Max has revealed the first official footage of Peacemaker, its upcoming Suicide Squad spinoff series starring John Cena.

The sizzle reel shows several of the upcoming new titles coming to HBO Max in the near future, including movies like Dune and The Matrix Resurrections; new seasons of existing TV series like Succession, Insecure and Euphoria; and brand new TV series like And Just Like That…, The Sex Lives Of College Girls and Peacemaker.

In the footage, the titular hero steps out of a car with a custom license plate that reads, “PSS-MKR.” He then meets the rest of the cast at a restaurant for dinner. Peacemaker is asked why exactly he’s wearing his costume to dinner, to which he replies that it’s not a costume, it’s “a uniform.”

Set to premiere in January 2022, Peacemaker is an eight-episode series that serves as a follow-up to writer-director James Gunn’s DC Extended Universe film The Suicide Squad, which premiered last month. The series co-stars Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, and Chukwudi Iwuji.
