Capcom Wants Its Games To Mainly Be On PC In The Future

Thanks to the plethora of ports of Capcom titles like Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Stories 2, it’s clear as day that this may be the company’s future direction.

During TGS 2021, Capcom president/Chief Operating Officer Haruhiro Tsujimoto said on Japanese news site Nikkei (via Bloomberg) that the company wants to make PC its main platform for games. The company also aims to have half of its sales on PC and the other half on consoles by 2022 and 2023.

Why is this the direction it is taking? It turns out that its record-setting sales numbers play a role in this new focus. The Resident Evil and Monster Hunter series lifetime sales numbers got to a pretty high number because of the PC versions that make up the majority of it. Previously leaked data also mentioned that Monster Hunter World sold better on PC in the west than on PlayStation.

On a related note, Monster Hunter Rise will be ported onto PC in January 2022. Previously, the game was a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
