Ultraman Tiga Is Banned On China’s Streaming Platforms

China’s National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) has instructed many broadcasters and online streaming platforms in the company to remove animated shows and cartoons featuring and mentioning any sort of violence, blood, vulgarity, or pornography on 24th September. This is for the sake of the children, according to that sect of the government.
As a result, content streaming platforms in China have removed tokusatsu show Ultraman Tiga from their catalogues (via CNN). The removal of this all-ages show about good giant superbeings fighting evil has been causing a public uproar, to the point where a hashtag involving Ultraman Tiga has been viewed 84 million times on Weibo.
The NRTA stated that broadcasters and online platforms need to set up special channels for children and feature content that promotes “truth, goodness, and beauty” to help shape China’s children for the better. This list of banned animated shows includes the following:
It’s safe to say that the NRTA are collectively off their rockers. Then again, this is the same government that has a problem with “boys love” content in video games and the online video game publishers who make games with “effeminate men” content.
