Age Of Empires 4 Surpasses 70K Players On Launch Weekend
Age Of Empires 4 launched on PC and Xbox Game Pass on 28 October 2021. Since then, it’s had a very good opening weekend. Not only did the highly-anticipated RTS game launch at the top of the Steam Top Sellers list, it also managed to exceed a whopping 70,000 concurrent players at its peak.
Even today on 2 November 2021, the game’s peak concurrent player count is 65,017 at the time of writing, according to Steam statistics. That’s certainly impressive for what is a niche genre, especially in the current gaming landscape where the RTS genre is pretty barren compared to a few decades ago.
It’s good to see the RTS genre still thriving with games like Age Of Empires 4, the various Total War games, and upcoming titles like Company Of Heroes 3.
