Don’t start panicking just yet. The truth is that the aforementioned Discord survey was conducted in August 2021. Besides NFTs, the survey also inquired about their favourite crypto Discord communities and any crypto-related problems Discord could potentially solve.
In a statement to The Verge, a Discord spokesperson has clarified by stating that the purpose of the survey was only to obtain data and geared specifically toward users active in cryptocurrency communities on Discord.
“We’re always exploring and hacking away at things we think will improve Discord for all the communities we serve. This includes research that helps us learn about what people want.”
While that’s not exactly a confirmation, it does look like Discord doesn’t have plans to introduce NFTs anytime soon. That might change as more and more companies adopts blockchain video games, including EA, Ubisoft, and Square Enix.
For now though, there won’t be NFTs on Discord… yet.
However, Discord CEO Jason Citron did poste a recent tweet teasing posted a potential Discord crypto wallet integration. Coincidence?
