Battlefield 2042 Will Not Have Voice Chat At Launch
Voice communication is essential in a team-based shooter like the Battlefield series. So it’s a bit strange that the upcoming Battlefield 2042, a game where you play in a 32-player filled arena (or more), is not launching with squad VOIP.
According to EA, voice chat support is coming ASAP, but developer DICE is working on the assumption that coordinated squads will communicate in Discord or other standalone chat applications. Which is a rather fair assumption given this day and age where third-party voice chat is common in multiplayer games, especially in Battlefield 2042’s new mode called Hazard Mode which is basically Escape From Tarkov EA version.
For the rest of the people who don’t want to use third-party chat apps, you’ll have to resort to text chat, the quick chat menu, and the built-in ping system which I heard isn’t so hot in the game.
