Beyond Good And Evil 2 Is Reportedly On The Verge Of Cancellation

A prequel to the 2003 cult classic, Beyond Good And Evil 2 was initially announced at E3 2017. It’s been a whopping four years since then, and Ubisoft has yet to give any significant updates on the game, except for announcing further delays and the like. It suspiciously looks like the game is stuck in some sort of development hell and the latest reports/rumours might be confirmation of what we fear the most.

According to games industry insider and VGC writer Tom Henderson on his Twitter account, Beyond Good And Evil 2 is in danger of cancellation because it is “suffering a development crisis from a lack of creative direction“ and “doesn’t fit with Ubisoft’s future ambitions and goals with future titles”.

The problems afflicting the game’s development was apparently made worse after the game’s director Michael Ancel left Ubisoft in 2020. In the same thread of tweets, Henderson also added that he’s found it difficult to corroborate and verify his sources, which means that we should all take this with a grain of salt.

At the time of writing, Ubisoft has yet to give an official comment on the matter. However, with the game being a no show at E3 2021 and the rest of the year, it’s easy to surmise that even if the game isn’t being cancelled, there is definitely something fishy going on with the game’s ongoing development.

Ubisoft unveiled the last video footage of the game was back in 2018.
