Square Enix Suspends Sales Of Final Fantasy XIV Due To Server Overload

Square Enix has suspended sales of Final Fantasy XIV sales, due to ongoing server congestion and queue issues following the launch of the recent Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker expansion.

However, this doesn’t affect existing players in any way. It’s just that no one can currently purchase Final Fantasy XIV Starter Edition or Complete Edition. While there won’t be new players, existing players can still buy additional content such as expansion packs.

In its official announcement, Square Enix said that they are also suspending new advertisements for the game. For players facing Error 2002, Square Enix investigated and discovered that the bug was caused by a login-related program created back in Final Fantasy XIV version 1.0. It will be fixed in an upcoming patch for the game client that’s slated to release on 21 December 2021.

In addition, Square Enix is also extending the free time offered to existing players with an extra 14 days, which makes for a total of 21 free days for anyone that owns the full game and has an active subscription as of 21 December 2021. As for the release of Pandæmonium: Asphodelos (Savage) in Patch 6.05, that is still scheduled for 4 January 2022.
