The 30 Best Games Of 2021: #20

Every day from late December to mid-January, we’ll be revealing our favourite games of 2021 one by one. Here’s number 20!

#20. Forza Horizon 5

2021 has some noteworthy racing games like the pretty fun Hot Wheels Unleashed. But we’ll have to give more props to the big-budget car game that offers a f***ton of cars, a slew of races and courses in one pretty lively part of Mexico (tropical beaches, towns, volcanic areas, forests, etc.), and an optional online component where you can team up with random people for points and challenges.

Forza Horizon 5 may be an easy choice for “best racing game of 2021”, but even if it had stiff competition from the Polyphony folks, we’re pretty confident that Playground Studios’ latest driving venture is sure to come out on top just for its replayability, single-player content, and wealth of modes and unlockables without any restrictive kind of driving. Sure, the whole party vibe may turn some people off -it’s basically a frat boy and crypto-NFT-bro type situation where money’s wasted on PG-level hedonism.

Still, it’s hard not to find joy in a game that lets you go offroad with a sweet-ass Bentley with little to no repercussions.
