A Scott Pilgrim Anime Is In The Works For Netflix

A Scott Pilgrim anime is in the works by Netflix and UCP, the division of Universal Studio Group behind The Umbrella Academy and the recent Chucky TV series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Scott Pilgrim creator, Bryan Lee O’Malley, will write and executive produce the anime alongside BenDavid Grabinski, the person behind the revival of Are You Afraid of the Dark? at Nickelodeon. Both of them will be the showrunners for the Scott Pilgrim anime.

Science Saru will produce the Scott Pilgrim anime. They are best known for Devilman Crybaby, two episodes of Star Wars Visions Season 1 (Akakiri and T0-B1), and more. The band members from Edgar Wright’s live-action 2010 movie will also be involved in the anime. Wright himself and producing partner Nira Park will also receive executive producer credits for the anime.

This is a great time for a Scott Pilgrim anime, considering that the Ubisoft game, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World The Game Complete Edition, was made available once again since last year for new platforms like the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The anime will most likely be faithful to the aesthetics of the comics and video game, especially since Bryan Lee O’Malley was originally partly inspired by manga and anime in the first place.
