God Of War Did Pretty Well On The PC

2022 is the year where a God of War game has finally made its way onto the PC in a legal fashion. And it’s a great port, based on what people have been saying.

The 2018 God of War has had a fantastic launch weekend on Steam, with a respectable 73,529 concurrent players on the game according to SteamDB. The game has also seen praise for Jetpack Interactive and Santa Monica Studio’s excellent port work.

Trouble Brewing?

Having said that, the PC version of the game is facing some issues like memory errors happening mid-game, even on high-end rigs running the gruff dad simulator. These complaints are stemming from folks who own new 12th-Gen Intel CPUs with integrated graphics.

The solution? Disable the integrated graphics option for now. Another solution is to use the current “experimental” branch on Steam. Here’s a breakdown:

  • Right-click on God of War in your Steam library and select “Properties” from the pop-up menu.
  • Select the “Betas” option in the left-hand menu, and change to “Experimental” in the drop-down menu.
  • If it doesn’t appear in the drop-down menu, restart Steam and try again.

If you’re still having these sort of troubles, you should head to the current Steam thread addressing the issue at this point in time.

Despite all that, the aforementioned praises mean we’ll be seeing more ports of Sony titles coming on board, while also making companies like Square Enix and Atlus sort out how they do ports of their console classics in the near future. We’re still waiting on that Bloodborne PC port, but maybe one step at a time for now, OK?
