Take-Two CEO Says GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition Is Doing Great Despite “Glitches”

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has performed “great” since its November release; at least, according to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick.

The CEO of Rockstar’s parent company may be downplaying the major issues of the remaster at launch during a recent CNBC interview.

“With regards to the GTA trilogy, that was actually not a new title. That was a remaster of pre-existing titles. We did have a glitch in the beginning, that glitch was resolved. And the title of [sic] has done just great for the company.”

See, the GTA remaster was released with significant technical issues and retains documents within the old games like the unlicensed music, dev notes, and even the infamous Hot Coffee sex minigame code. Since then, Rockstar has apologized and has promised upcoming updates to improve the title.

Zelnick has also talked about the market’s negative reaction towards Take-Two’s plans to acquire Zynga in a US$12.7 billion deal. The GTA comments in the interview were done to most likely placate shareholders who have reacted poorly to this piece of news. Talk about mastering the art of PR spinning at a CEO level.
