The Batman Will Not Be Released in Russia
By Fitri Razif|March 1, 2022|0 Comment
Say “dos vedanya” to the Caped Crusader, as The Batman film will not be released in Russia amidst the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
We’re merely two days away from the theatrical release of The Batman but Warner Bros. has put a pause in distributing the feature film in Russia, due to them instigating a cruel war on Ukraine. A spokesperson for WarnerMedia said in a statement:
“We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves. We hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to this tragedy.”
Warner Bros. isn’t the first of film giants to pull away from Russia as Disney will also be pulling the release of Pixar’s latest animated feature Turning Red which was expected to premiere on March 10 in the country. “Given the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and the tragic humanitarian crisis, we are pausing the release of theatrical films in Russia, including the upcoming ‘Turning Red’ from Pixar,” a Disney spokesperson said in a statement.
The conflict is a very serious, unnecessary one so it’s comforting to know that even large corporations are standing in solidarity with Ukraine. With that said, we wish for a swift end to the invasion of Ukraine and for safety to everyone affected.
