Did Anyone Seriously Ask For A Spider-Man Spin-Off Movie Featuring El Muerto?
Because Morbius did very, very well in the box office worldwide, Sony Pictures has the bright wisdom to announce yet another Spider-Man spin-off film.
The next target? El Muerto, a Latino wrestler who gains superhuman powers from a wrestling mask and fights Spider-Man in a couple of issues; apparently that’s enough to warrant a movie with a Sony Pictures money. The upcoming spin-off movie will be in theaters on 12 January 2024 and will star Bad Bunny as the first-ever live-action Latino lead in superhero films.

Who is Bad Bunny? It’s the stage name of one Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasia the Puerto Rican singer, producer, actor, and professional wrestler. His music has been streamed 8.3 billion times back in 2020 on Spotify.
This piece of news wouldn’t be an issue if the past few Spider-Man spin-off movies did better than the MCU films from a critical and commercial standpoint. All I can say is Sony Pictures should be thankful that the two Venom movies are doing the box office sales heavy lifting here. Though it’ll be interesting to see the Spider-Man universe from that new perspective. Remember: Peter Parker got his start as a wrestler before he became a superhero with great powers and greater responsibilities.
