2D Roguelike Platformer Source Of Madness Is Out Now
By Jonathan ToyadVerified|May 11, 2022|0 Comment
If you love straightforward 2D action, roguelike elements, and Lovecraftian artwork, you may want to check out this new game.
Source Of Madness is out now for PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch. It’s an indie game published by Thunderful and made by Carry Castle; you fight hordes of monsters and creatures as you play a random cult wizard going from point A to B in multiple levels. The landscape and enemies changes, so no two runs are the same.
We played a couple of hours of this roguelike; we dig the creepy artwork and combat, though the game’s art style can get very messy in later levels where things get more detailed, darker, and more chaotic. However, the game costs US$19.99, so you’re getting quite a lot of 2D side-scrolling shooting -you cast tons of ranged spells- and exploration. The controls also work smoothly; you do your aiming with your right analog stick and your trigger buttons to fire your spells and cast your melee attacks.
Check out the launch trailer of Source of Madness below, if you think you need more roguelike action and spellcasting in a Cthulu-inspired world in your life.
