Star Wars Celebration 2022: Andor Trailer, The Mandalorian Season 3 & More
By Alleef Ashaari|May 27, 2022|0 Comment
The first day of Star Wars Celebration 2022 kicked off with a bang, as a special Star Wars Celebration Lucasfilm Showcase took place. It featured several major announcements not just related to Star Wars like Andor and The Mandalorian, but also other Lucasfilm projects like Indiana Jones 5 and Willow.
Arguably the biggest reveal of the night was the release of the first trailer for the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series, Andor.
The Andor series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.
Diego Luna returns as Cassian Andor and is joined by cast members Genevieve O’Reilly (who will portray a young Mon Mothma), Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough and Kyle Soller. The executive producers are Kathleen Kennedy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna and Michelle Rejwan. Tony Gilroy is the creator and showrunner.
Season 1 will consist of 12 episodes, taking place five years before the events of Rogue One A Star Wars Story. Season 2 will consist of 12 episodes as well, which will cover the remaining four years before Rogue One. According to Gilroy, the final scene of the series will directly lead into the events of Rogue One.
Andor will premiere on Disney+ on 31 August 2022.

During the event, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau announced that The Mandalorian Season 3 and Ahsoka Season 1 will both premiere in 2023. The Mandalorian Season 3 already has a release window, which will be in February 2023.
A teaser was shown at the event (which has yet to be released to the public), which depicted Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin going to the Mandalorian home planet, Mandalore, and reuniting with Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Kryze.

Amidst all that, they still had time to announce a new Star Wars series; Star Wars Skeleton Crew. The show takes place after the events of Star Wars Episode VI Return Of The Jedi, around the same timeframe as The Mandalorian. The only thing we know about this series is that it will feature children as its protagonists. Director Jon Watts and writer Chris Ford are the showrunners for the series. It will also star Jude Law in an undisclosed role.

Yes, Indiana Jones isn’t related to Star Wars, but it’s also under Lucasfilm, and it not only stars Harrison Ford, but also features music composed by John Williams. During the event, Harrison Ford appeared to announce that Indiana Jones 5 will premiere on 30 June 2023.
James Mangold of Logan fame is the director of the movie. The film’s ensemble cast also includes Antonia Banderas, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook and Shaunette Renée Wilson.
What does Willow have to do with Star Wars? Well, they’re both under Lucasfilm, and they both star Warwick Davis. The original Willow movie came out in 1988, and the new Willow series will be set 10 years after the events of the first movie.
The series will see three new heroes in search of Willow. Davis Warwick reprises his role from the first movie, with Ellie Bamber, Erin Kellyman, Tony Revolori and Cailee Spaeny joining the franchise. Jonathan Kasdan and Wendy Mericle serve as co-showrunners, with The End of the F***ing World creator Jonathan Entwistle directing the pilot.
Willow will premiere on Disney+ on 30 November 2022.
