Coraline Director Teams Up With Jordan Peele For Wendell & Wild
By Alleef AshaariVerified|September 7, 2022|0 Comment
Wendell & Wild is an upcoming stop-motion animated dark fantasy comedy horror film directed by Henry Selick, from a script by Selick and Jordan Peele, based on Selick and Clay McLeod Chapman’s unpublished book. It was originally announced during Netflix Geeked Week in June 2022.
Produced by Netflix Animation, Monkeypaw Productions, Gotham Group, and Principato-Young Entertainment, the film stars Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele as the titular characters, with Lyric Ross, Angela Bassett, James Hong, Sam Zelaya, Tamara Smart, Seema Virdi, Ramona Young and Ving Rhames in supporting roles.
The synopsis reads:
From the delightfully wicked minds of Henry Selick (director of The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline) and Jordan Peele (Nope, Us, Get Out) comes the story of Kat (Lyric Ross), a troubled teen haunted by her past, who must confront her personal demons, Wendell & Wild (played by Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele) to start a new life in her old hometown. Wendell & Wild also stars Angela Bassett, James Hong, and Ving Rhames.
This is Selick’s first feature film since 2009’s Coraline. Selick is also best known as the director of the animated classics, 1993’s The Nightmare Before Christmas and 1996’s James And The Giant Peach. Dark stop-motion animated movies are his forte. Meanwhile, Jordan Peele is, of course, best known for his horror movies like Get Out, Us and most recently, Nope (as well as his comedy sketch series Key & Peele on YouTube).
Wendell & Wild premieres on Netflix on 28 October 2022. Check out the trailer below:
