Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Is Getting A Radio Drama On BBC

BBC has announced that they’re adapting Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell into a radio drama on BBC Radio 4. It will be titled Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Firewall.

According to VGC, the eight-part series will broadcast on Fridays from 2 December 2022 at 2.15 pm and follow veteran Fourth Echelon agent Sam Fisher on a new mission, recruiting and training the next generation of Splinter Cell operatives for the National Security Agency’s covert action division.

The synopsis reads:

“When a lethal assassin from Fisher’s past returns from the dead on a mission of murder, he is thrust into a race against time as a sinister threat to global security is revealed.”

Sam Fisher is played by Andonis Anthony (The Archers). The role of his daughter Sarah, who teams up with her dad, is played by Daisy Head. The rest of the cast includes Rosalie Craig, Sacha Dhawan, Nikesh Patel, and Will Poulter (who will be starring in the upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3).

In a statement, Poulter:

“I really hope fans of the Splinter Cell game enjoy this, as not only does it have all the action, tension and excitement that the game is famous for, but it also has more elements. There is a lot of comedy, the drama is expanded and horizons broadened by the characters and what they get up to. It is taking the best of Splinter Cell and building on that to make something really well-rounded.”

Last year in December 2021, Ubisoft officially announced a Splinter Cell remake, , the stealth action game which is being rebuilt with the Snowdrop engine, the same engine being used to develop the upcoming Avatar Frontiers Of Pandora, and Ubisoft’s new untitled Star Wars game.

The game will apparently deliver new-generation visuals and gameplay, as well as dynamic lighting and shadows. However, no platforms or release dates were announced. Looking at the announcement and the fact that the developer is still hiring people to work on the project, it will probably be years before we even get our glimpse at the game.

At least fans will have this radio drama to tide them over until then.
