The latest Panel From Hell from Larian Studios is focused on new and major Baldur’s Gate 3 changes and its now-out Patch 9. The game will get a new Paladin class, a level cap bump, a new “reactions” system, and a special Critical Role VO appearance.

Remember when Minsc was revealed to be in Baldur’s Gate 3 during The Game Awards 2022? He will be voiced by Critical Role star Matt Mercer. For those who are too young to remember Minsc, he’s a deranged ranger who fights for justice and has a space hamster named Boo. He’s pretty strong and has great stats back in the old Baldur’s Gate titles, so he should be a lovely addition in part 3.

The Paladin class specializes in fighting evil with hammer melee attacks and providing aid and buffs for the party. They have the Oath of Devotion special skill that calls on a vengeful aura that deals damage to anyone who strikes the class, as well as Oath of the Ancients that grant healing to allies. In addition, the Paladin can unlock the hidden subclass called the Oathbreaker; if you don’t become a good Paladin, you become this new subclass with new powers but at the cost of being a different moral alignment. That should be pretty cool for old-school Dungeons & Dragons fans.

The new build of Baldur’s Gate 3’s Early Access will bump up the level cap to 5. This gives players access to Level 3 spells like Fireball, Counterspell, and Animate Dead. The game will also have a new reactions system where players can use attacks of opportunity in the heat of battle. Spellcasters can access the Fly spell which can be used in and out of combat to reach inaccessible spots in the field.

Baldur’s Gate 3 patch 9 is out now. Check it out on Steam. The game will be out of Early Access in August 2023. Check out the Panel From Hell video below:
