#11. MARIO + RABBIDS SPARKS OF HOPE (NINTENDO SWITCH)

Ubisoft delivers on what is definitely the greatest sequel we will ever see. This year’s sequel expands the formula turn-based strategy genre while improving on its core gameplay that made it stand out: the turn-based tactical combat that’s basically like XCOM but with Nintendo and Ubisoft turning it up.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope has a combination of humor, action, and well-thought-out surprises. Each character is more viable due to its own play style and three new characters introduced in action-packed gameplay. Every planet you visit from a forest-themed to an icy environment village will have its own secrets and puzzles for you to unlock. It is extremely rewarding to play an ambitious sequel that fixes all the major problems with the original.

Ubisoft did a great job creating an oddball world that’s fun to play for all ages. All XCOM-style strategy games should replicate the flexible movement system of Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope with a splash of personality and quirky humour.
