John Wick director, Chad Stahelski is set to direct Rainbow Six, a live-action adaptation of Tom Clancy’s 1998 novel that inspired the video games of the same name, featuring Michael B. Jordan in its live adaptation.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jordan will reprise his role as Navy SEAL and CIA operative John Clark, who appears in numerous Tom Clancy novels, first in the Jack Ryan series, then in his own spinoffs such as Without Remorse and Rainbow Six.
Alongside Stahelski, includes Jason Spitz and Alex Young to overlook the whole project. No plot details have been revealed as it’s still in the early days.
In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six novel, the Rainbow team uncovers a global terror plot, while a shooter video game — released in 1998 by developer Red Storm Entertainment — lets players control Rainbow team members on painstakingly planned, highly tactical missions. The tactical game received an 85% score on Metacritic, with many praising it as being one of the best and original game of the late 90s.
Rainbow Six adds to Stahelski’s crowded directorial slate, including a possible remake of Highlander starring Henry Cavill, Playstation’s Ghost of Tsushima, and John Wick: Chapter 4, set to premiere in theatres, in March 2023.
