Sony Unveils First Look Teaser For The Gran Turismo Movie
By Alleef AshaariVerified|January 5, 2023|1 Comment
During the Sony CES 2023 press conference, Sony Pictures unveiled our first look at the upcoming Gran Turismo movie, as well as its official logo.
Back in November 2022, it was announced that Guardians Of The Galaxy and Shazam star Djimon Hounsou and former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell-Horner have joined the cast of Gran Turismo, the live-action film adaptation from Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions based on the iconic racing game franchise.
The cast also adds Daniel Puig, Josha Stradowski, and Thomas Kretschman, as well as the previously-announced David Harbour, Archie Madekwe, Orlando Bloom and Darren Barnett. Neill Blomkamp, best known for sci-fi movies such as District 9 and Elysium, is directing the Gran Turismo movie with a script by Jason Hall (American Sniper) and Zach Baylin (King Richard).
The movie is currently described as the tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won him a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race-car driver. Madekwe is playing the teen while Harbour is a retired driver who teaches him to drive.
The Gran Turismo movie will premiere on 11 August 2023.
The most recent game in the franchise was Gran Turismo 7, which launched for the PS4 and PS5 in March 2022 earlier this year. Check out my review of the game by heading over here.
