Written and directed by Takehiko, The First Slam Dunk will feature most of the original characters and recast all his principal voice actors: Ryota Miyagi (Shugo Nakamura), Hisashi Mitsui (Jun Kasama), Kaede Rukawa (Shin’ichiro Kamio), Hanamichi Sakuragi (Subaru Kimura), Takenori Akagi (Kenta Miyake), Haruko Akagi (Maaya Sakamoto), Kiminobu Kogure (Ryota Iwasaki), and many more.
The First Slam Dunk is an adaptation of the popular manga series. Following the manga’s 1990 debut on Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, Toei Animation adapted the franchise into an anime, which aired from 1993-1996. This will be the first entry in the series since the original anime ended in the late 90s.
The movie adaptation unfolds the match between Shohoku High and Sannoh Secondary School. You can still watch it without having seen the previous series, as it is meant to introduce you to the characters and setting.
