Following the recent Microsoft layoffs, developer The Coalition is getting an updated work schedule.

The bad news first: two of its unannounced games under development are cancelled. However, the Canadian studio is going full steam ahead with a Gears of War 6, or Gears 6. This is from a report from Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb.

“They have cancelled that smaller project, as well as another project, so there have been two games cancelled there.

This was all reflected in the layoffs that happened at Microsoft, which did hit The Coalition a little bit. The studio is now going to move on fully to Gears 6. I say now, it has likely moved on to Gears 6 in full over the course of the last year, but definitely, that will be their next game.”

Microsoft has future plans for the Gears of War series, including a Netflix deal where it will make a number of adaptation projects including a live-action film and an adult animation series.
