Custom Anime Sneakers Refashioned Nike Dunk Low And Air Jordan

Nike is no stranger to video game and pop culture collaborations, however, the iconic brand did not yet get its chance to collaborate with a certain giant gaming company such as Nintendo. Yet, Andrew Chiou, a shoe designer, takes the plunge and creates customized sneakers with Mario, Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, and more themes.

His Pokemon-theme sneakers have been doing the rounds on shoe blogs recently, and that is only above the surface. His custom Dunks and Jordans are painted every so often for customers, and sometimes as one-offs for celebrities and athletes. As a result, Chiou’s designs garnered the attention of shoe enthusiasts on social media with 182,000 Instagram followers. However, most sneakers are digitally designed as mock-ups and certain sneakers are painted on actual pairs.

What The Super Mario

The classic Nike Dunk Low gets refashioned into unique mismatched sneakers inspired by the Super Mario Bros. movie. This low-top shoe design incorporates motifs and colours reminiscent of Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Yoshi, and more characters, as well as stages and items from the game.

Sailor Moon Concept

Who said you can’t look dope with sailor moon sneakers? Painted on the Nike Dunk Low, featuring retro and clean panel design that’ll make any age of fans go wild.

OG Vegeta

The Dragon Ball Dunks are based on Vegeta and are painted on a real pair of sneakers. You can see how intricate the details are especially Vegeta’s shoulder armour.

The Mystery Machine

Chiou created a special customized Dunks for Halloween, based on the famous animated van in the Scooby-Doo franchise.

Mecha Mewtwo

We would never have thought this classic Mewtwo would have resurfaced as an inspiration for the Air Jordan 4 sneaker, and it is stunning! Overlay panels feature contoured shadows adding to the character of the sneaker while the shoe’s materials and overall construction are kept intact.

Flaming Charizard

Hardcore Pokemon fans would instantly recognise this rare alternative Charizard back in the Gen 2 era. Some called it “Purple Charizard” and others “Shiny Charizard”. Either way, you can bet this design is insanely dope.

Snorlax 4 Concept

Finally, the Snorlax 4, brings the ever-lovable Pokemon Snorlax redesigned on off-white Jordan IV sneakers. The colour pallets express tones of blue and beige. Dark patches add the 3D effect drawn from the shadow found on Snorlax.
