Dark And Darker Class Guides

Despite the current legal issues its developers are going through, people are still into Dark and Darker, the latest PvPvE fantasy RPG game from Iron Mace. Just like with any other hardcore game, picking a class and playstyle is important in setting yourself up for hours of looting and escaping.

Dark and Darker is a multiplayer game, so picking the right class is pretty important for you and your team. If your team has different classes and can switch when the party needs to, that’s already one path to possible success sorted.

There are seven classes in Dark and Darker:

  • Barbarian
  • Bard
  • Cleric
  • Fighter
  • Ranger
  • Rogue
  • Wizard
Here’s a breakdown of each of them.

Barbarian

  • Hardiest of the classes.
  • Melee fighter.
  • Starts off with battle axe; also has three throwable Francisca axes as ranged options.
  • Has highest starting health stats, but is slow.
  • Perks focus on improving strength, buffs strength, impact power, HP recovery.
  • Best for beginners starting out & getting the hang of the game’s mechanics and feel.

Bard

  • Great at crowd control, better against enemy horde.
  • Not stealthy.
  • Can heal.
  • Better as a support for a party than a solo.

Cleric

  • Healer of any group.
  • Cleric perks and skills increase damage, support, healing, and reducing damage taken.
  • Needs strong fighters to complement the group with.
  • Can only cast spells if one of your skill slots is used for Spell Memory skill; you can then equip spells to your number key.

Fighter

  • Melee damage expert, but also has stealth and doesn’t generate much noise.
  • Starts off with sword and shield.
  • More agile, but at least has higher hit points than Ranger and Rogue
  • Skills and perks affect movement speed, reduces damage taken, recovers HP slowly.
  • Flexible class for beginners and advanced players.

Ranger

  • Ranged attacker; takes out enemies from a distance.
  • Starts off with Recurve bow, and campfire kit for healing/recovery.
  • Dies fast if caught by melee attacks.
  • All perks and skills are based on ranger’s weapons and attacks.
  • Best for experts.

Rogue

  • Nimble and fast class.
  • Not strong, and dies easily.
  • Starts with Rondel dagger and three throwable knives.
  • Skills and perks include stealing items from enemies, pick locks without lockpick, throw smoke bombs.

Wizard

  • The other magic user, with powerful spells for attacking enemies.
  • Your skill slot needs to be taken up with Spell Memory.
  • Spells include Fireball, Invisibility, Haste, and more.
  • Perks and skills include improving fire and ice spells.
  • Dies easily too, so handle with care.
